First things first,
I love storytelling & I love people
& ever since I was little I knew I was going to be an artist.
I painted and drew, I have ridiculous piles of sketchbooks filled with colors, fashion, sketches and collages. I wrote poetry and books (I was in this club with one of my childhood friends where we would write fairytale stories to each other). I never shied away from trying new art forms, be it printmaking, throwing pottery or theatre. I worked at coffee shops for most of my life and spent my time there attempting to perfect my latte art. I designed my college's yearbook my freshmen year and then majored in graphic design the following year.
Photography was what stuck with me, though. Ever since being introduced to photos and cameras by a dear family friend, I was enamored with capturing life & freezing time. From photographing friends in our backyards in middle school, to eventually joining a photo org at college, to most everything else in between, I just could not get enough.
I shot my very first wedding in college and it lit my heart up. I was still continuing with my degree, however, trying to convince myself that a degree and a 9 to 5 were what I wanted out of life. Eventually I couldn't & dropped out of University two weeks into my junior year because I had to be honest with myself, this wasn't what I wanted.
Photographing people in love was.
& then, after years of telling myself “how hard it would be to make a career out of this,” I finally took the leap of faith & never really looked back. I have my absolute dream job and I cannot express how much true joy and gratitude I feel to be able to capture lovers on their wedding day.
It's one of the biggest gifts & greatest honors in my life that I get to celebrate with others on their wedding day!
